Deputy Charge Nurse

My client is the largest independent provider of secure mental health facilities across the UK with over 20 years of experience in caring for men and women with complex mental health needs specialising in Mental illness, Learning disability, Personality disorder and Brain injury rehabilitation.

My client is seeking a Deputy Charge Nurse to support the Charge Nurse in providing effective clinical leadership to the nursing team in the delivery of contemporary forensic nursing care.

Main Duties:
You will be responsible to supervise and monitor the Care Programme Approach (CPA), risk assessment and risk management process in collaboration with the Charge Nurse & Multi-disciplinary team. Organise and undertake pre-admission assessments of prospective patients and prepare reports as required by the referrals and bed management group. Participate in the evaluation of treatment programmes. Effectively and efficiently manage ward resources provide leadership, guidance and support to the ward team in the absence of the Charge Nurse. Work collaboratively with the Charge Nurse and other members of the Multi-disciplinary team in providing an effective care package within budgetary constraints to all our patients. Actively promote the clinical area as a learning environment.

Skills and Experience:
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

•Forensic Psychiatric nursing experience at Senior Staff Nurse level.

•Proven leadership, team building and motivational skills.

•Outstanding communication skills.

•Advanced knowledge and understanding of the Care Programme Approach, Risk Assessment and Risk Management.

•Up to date knowledge of the Mental Health Legislation.

RMN / RNLD a nursing related degree, diploma in Forensic Nursing or equivalent IT Skills would be desirable.
