We are seeking a Head of Care to work within a private nursing home based in York.
Hourly rate: £18 - £18.50 per hour (Negotiable dependent on previous experience)
The nursing home has a maximum of 40 beds with clientele of elderly care and dementia. The provider understands the importance of an active lifestyle for long-term mental and physical well-being, with many outings and entertainments organised to suit personal interests.
As the Head of Care you will be working as part of the multi-disciplinary leadership team in developing and delivering the highest quality to patients and their families. Leading and managing the nursing and care staff to ensure patients receive care that patients receive care that is safe, effective responsive, caring and well led.
As the Head of Care your main duties will be:
Leading and continually improving quality across the home, ensuring it is embedded as day-to-day responsibility of all members of staff
Promoting a culture of openness and responsiveness to the view of the service, a philosophy of person-centred care and recovery, and an ethos of positive learning from incident within a high performing service
Balancing the philosophy with a passion for coordinating and leading patient safety
Working with Nurses the post-holder will be responsible for leading and advancing clinical practice in the home
Providing regular review and analysis of nursing care and treatment
To lead on the development and on-going review of ward staffing models and that ward are appropriately staffed
To ensure compliance with all external and corporate quality agendas and regulators for leading and advancing clinical nursing practice in the home.
Demonstrating competence in the full set of clinical nursing skills required for this role
To join the nursing home as the Head of Care you will be: -
A Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (RGN, RMN, RNLD) appropriate to the job
Educated to first degree level in nursing or leadership and management
Evidence continuing professional development relating to speciality
In possession of a teaching and assessing qualification
Able to provide demonstrable experience of taking charge of a department, managing people and financial resources
Have an in-depth knowledge of the clinical governance agenda including health and safety, clinical risk issues and quality initiatives
Critical, analytical and decision making skills
Be in possession of excellent interpersonal skills
