Hambleton Grange, state-of-the-art Residential Care Home in Thirsk, are looking to recruit a Cook working on average 28.88 hours per week, 8am - 5pm 3 shift rolling rota.
Our Cooks work with our Kitchen Manager to plan, prepare and cook food to the highest standard in our luxury care homes. Cooking delicious and nutritious meals for our residents, whilst maintaining a safe and clean environment makes our homes an enjoyable and invigorating place to live and work.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the food they prepare to join our team. Previous experience of catering for a minimum of 30 people is essential along with a solid knowledge of COSHH, HACCP and food hygiene. We offer full induction training and support to our team to progress through their NVQs all the way to the highest levels of care.

Being a Cook means your core focus is to plan, prepare and cook a variety of meals which are appealing, nutritious and centres around residents’ preferences, requests or any special dietary requirements. You will be required to be active and encouraging, provide advice and guidance for the team ensuring that the care home is a friendly, supportive working environment. Key responsibilities include:
·Ensuring that sufficient food stocks are ordered and received from approved suppliers and that stock rotation is taking place to maintain optimum freshness of all food stuff to maintain the highest quality as expected within the care home.
·Understanding and complying with statutory and legal requirements such as HACCP, health and safety, COSHH, Environmental Health, ensuring a safe environment within the home.
·Implementing, monitoring and maintaining cleaning schedules that meet the requirements of the HACCP Manual, and ensure that all areas of the kitchen are immaculately clean.
·Training, coaching and developing of new kitchen staff to guarantee we are providing the highest level of food to our residents in line with compliance guidelines.
·Helping to manage and control an identified budget for the care home’s catering service.
·Working well as part of a dynamic team to ensure that any nutrition needs of a resident’s care is met, enabling their personal choice to be reflected throughout their care journey.
