Description

Chef required 2 -3 days per week to work within a 45 bedded Care Home.

Will include every other weekend.

Could develop into a full-time position as the home fills.

Job Summary

You’re a capable, experienced chef with a City & Guilds 705 qualification (or the equivalent). You’re a caring person who knows the vital role mealtimes play in the lives of frail, older people. Ideally, you’ve already got some experience catering for older people in a care home or similar setting. You’re well-organised and a good team player. You’re happy working closely with colleagues to make sure individual dietary needs are met. You want to be a valued member of a friendly, close-knit team – keen to progress in your career as a chef and do your bit to improve the nutrition of older people.


Your role

  • Prepare and cook all food items within as per the resident`s needs and as per the Head Chef`s specifications.
  • Assist in developing dish specifications.
  • Contribute to working within agreed budgets.
  • Assist in the training of staff in preparation of food.
  • Assist with organising food stocks and ordering in a timely fashion.
  • Control wastage.
  • Report poor performance through company procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members.
  • Contribute to daily food administration.
  • Deliver high standards of Hygiene.
  • Assist in developing rotas and records.
  • Implement Health and Safety requirements.
  • Contribute to stock taking as required.
