Key Responsibilities: 

Carry out regular checks around the home at intervals determined by the proprietor/Manager and with due regard for clients’ privacy.

Carry out regular checks on the building with special reference to fire protection.

Answer emergency bells, assess the situation, deal with the client seeking help or call upon the “on-call” staff.

Assist Residents who need help, reassurance or comfort.

Assist Residents preparing for bed and waking in the morning as directed. In the time available between attending to Residents, undertake domestic duties primarily in the fields of laundry and ironing, food preparation or cleaning as directed.

To monitor sleep patterns of Residents, responding to their needs as appropriate and ensuring a nurturing and caring environment is maintained. Implement and/or contribute to individual programmes with particular regard to sleep disturbance and any other relevant issues.

Contribute to the recording system ensuring comprehensive details are kept for each shift.

Take part in staff meetings and training activities as directed.

Assist with the Senior Person in prompting of medication; to take full responsibility for this if appointed “person in charge” as above providing you are adjudged trained and competent to do so.

Record significant occurrences in the Incident Book Hand-over to Managers and Day Staff all relevant matters occurring during the night.

To operate within current legislative; good practice and the Fundamental Standards of Quality & Safety.

To undertake domestic duties as directed, in the time available between attending to residents.

To conduct all procedures within the home with due regard to the food hygiene and health and safety legislation and infection control requirements.
