At Fairburn Mews, we work primarily with people that need mental health care and have complex needs, including personality and psychotic disorders. Service users may also have physical needs including PEG tubes and other needs associated with diseases such as Huntington's. We believe a home is for life and as our service users health needs change we work with local health teams and provide a comprehensive end of life pathway, ensuring that the core values of care are maintained.

We do a comprehensive pre-admission assessment and work with outside agencies and healthcare professionals to deliver the best possible healthcare. We support individuals with their healthcare needs but feel it is equally important to assist our service users to have a full and enjoyable lifestyle. Our team are committed to treating each service user as the unique and individual person that they are. We have supported individuals to attend concerts, football grounds, cinema, theatre, shopping trips, day trips and to go on holiday. We also provide in-house activities for our service users to join in with if they wish to.

We are looking for a person who is enthusiastic, warm and compassionate and is motivated to provide quality care to our Service Users enabling them to feel respected, included and cared for. You will promote the core values of care, help maintain independence, dignity, assist with personal care and ensure the physical and emotional needs of our Service Users are met.

On a typical day, you can expect to:

  • Assist with personal hygiene
  • Provide refreshments, snacks and assist at meal times
  • Take part in individual or group activities
  • Provide accompaniment on outings or even just a walk to the shop
  • Make beds and general housekeeping duties
  • Promote mobility and independence
  • Assist nursing staff with clinical duties
  • Promote good relationships with Service Users, relatives, visitors and the care team
  • Assist with the training of new care team members
  • Communicate effectively with the nursing team
  • Assist with on-going assessments of Service Users, reporting any changes
  • Maintain up to date documentation, care plans, charts etc
  • Ensure confidentiality at all times
  • Promote the reputation of the home
