As a 2nd Chef at this brand new Barchester care home, you'll help to provide the first-class food and hospitality that enable us to give our residents exceptional all-round care and support.

Opening this summer in Lichfield, Staffordshire, The Spires Care Home has been specifically designed to provide quality residential care to older people and those living with dementia. Located close to Lichfield city centre The Spires will provide a warm, homely and friendly environment for 70 residents. Its dedicated Memory Lane community, which supports residents with dementia, will offer everything from a sensory garden through to activity kitchens. This is your opportunity to help make this first-class home a success from day one.

We'll rely on you to help us create dishes that not only look and taste delicious but are nutritious and cater for every individual's tastes and dietary needs. The role of 2nd Chef with us is a great stepping stone to a more senior role. You can expect to support and deputise for the Head Chef, helping to design menus, manage all aspects of the kitchen, control the budget and lead the catering team. We'll support your continued development and you'll also be able to showcase your talents in the annual, fiercely-contested Barchester Hospitality Awards.

You'll need to have a basic food hygiene certificate to join us as a 2nd Chef. Ideally, you'll also bring a catering qualification - a City & Guilds 706 1/2 (or equivalent) - along with experience in a similar role. We're looking for someone with creative flair, good nutritional understanding and leadership skills, all combined with a personable approach and a genuine interest in our residents. Our considerate and caring chefs are important personalities in our homes, highly valued and popular with residents, families and staff.

As well as a competitive salary, Barchester offers one of the best rewards packages in the care sector. Your generous benefits would include:

* Free learning and development
* Automatic enrolment into our profit share scheme
* Access to childcare vouchers
* A range of holiday, retail and leisure discounts
* Unlimited access to our Refer a Friend bonus scheme

If you'd like to use your culinary and people skills in an organisation that provides the quality care you'd expect for your loved ones, this is a rewarding place to be.
