Position: Residential Care Home Manager
Location: Southeast London
Location Registration: Elderly / Dementia Care
Job Type: Monday – Friday 08:00 to 17:00*
Responsible to: Service Provider
Criteria: experienced registered manager or deputy manager, with NVQ 5 / RMN / or QCF completed or enrolled

The Heathers Residential Care Home is currently looking for a Registered Care Home Manager to operate a residential care home in Southeast London registered for 14 service users. The home provides specialist residential care for the frail elderly and those suffering with dementia, and it is essential that you have a solid background within the health sector.
There is an off-site team available, to help provide direct input to quality assurance, maintenance, procurement, HR, accounts, general admin, and other operational matters.
As Manager you will be directly involved in the day-to-day running of the floor and office of the service so that the unit meets the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act and associated regulations.
Main Duties:
Your key responsibilities will centre on the management of the staff team on shift, and the delivery of care to those service users living at the service. As well as marketing, assessing and selecting potential service users fill voids when they arise. Daily catch up with all residents is essential and ensuring staff training is adhered to and to positively encourage teamwork and constructive whistleblowing.
IS THE SERVICE SAFE - you will:
·Protect service users from avoidable harm and abuse.
·Manage risks (e.g. mobility / behaviour / hygiene) to service users so they are supported.
·Ensure care staff provide assistance to the service user group in a timely manner.
·Assist in the recruitment procedure (interviewing), in conjunction with our Human Resource Management team (admin and training), and be responsible for mentoring new care staff.
·Manage the medication process so service users medicines are received, administered, recorded, and returned correctly.
·Review and monitor the quality of the service to drive improvement.
·Complete relevant safety checks (e.g. fire / legionella / nurse call).
·Manage the DoLs process (e.g. applications for authorisation / mental capacity assessments / best interest decisions).
·Promote social activities at the residential care home / support, facilitate, and record access to the local community.
IS THE SERVICE EFFECTIVE - you will:
·Ensure service users nutritional needs are assessed and recorded.
·Organise service user access to healthcare services and ensure ongoing healthcare support.
·Ensure care staff have the confidence and skills needed to carry out their roles and responsibilities through mentoring.
·Ensure care staff have regular supervisions.
IS THE SERVICE CARING - you will:
·Ensure service users and their relatives are consulted and actively involved in making decisions about their care, treatment and support.
·Ensure your care staff develop positive caring relationships with service users.
·Ensure your care staff promote your service users privacy and dignity.
IS THE SERVICE RESPONSIVE - you will:
·Assess service users needs and respond to any change in needs so that they receive personalised care that is responsive to these needs.
·Update care plans to reflect the care and support given.
·Involve service users in decision making about their care and listen and learn from people’s experiences, concerns, and complaints.
IS THE SERVICE WELL LED - you will:
·Chair service users and relatives meetings, take note of anything arising, and in discussion with your service provider make changes to the service provision at the service.

The successful candidate will have the following experience and qualifications:
- RMA / NVQ 5 or equivalent – completed or enrolled.
- A proven track record in residential home management as a manager or deputy manager.
- Elderly / dementia experience.
- A sound knowledge of the CQC and applicable legislation / standards.
The successful candidate will:
- Be dynamic & enthusiastic.
- Possess strong leadership skills and works well as part of a team.
- Have good communication skills and be capable of operating software platforms used to manage staff / service users / medication.
