Phoenix House is a specialist mental health hospital service for men over the age of eighteen who have complex mental health problems. The hospital can detain patients and can provide specialist mental health rehabilitation treatments, including locked rehabilitation.
Patients in this hospital setting may have complex mental health diagnoses such as depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or a personality disorder. They may also have alcohol or drug dependencies for which rehabilitation treatment can be provided. Carers work towards allowing people to recover to a point where they can manage their own mental health and are able to budget for themselves, cook and clean, manage their own time, seek employment, develop social networks and play an active role in their local community.
An important aspect of each person’s individualised care pathway is the creation of a recovery plan, based on goal-focused activities, which defines the individual’s own useful mechanisms for limiting and managing the symptoms and negative effects of their condition. Phoenix House’s highly skilled and experienced multi-disciplinary clinical team provide the specialist interventions to support individuals as they progress along the care pathway.
Phoenix House is able to accept men detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) and is registered with Healthcare Inspectorate Wales.
