Dorset based company, W&P Assessment and Training Centre LLP has been accredited with the nationally recognised quality mark for organisations which provide support to individuals to make learning and work more accessible – the Matrix Standard.

Established in 2001, W&P is a private training organisation delivering NVQ’s, management training and short courses throughout the care industry.

The Matrix Standard aims to assess and improve the quality of information, advice and guidance services across the UK. Through a series of interviews and a site visit, Matrix evaluates the quality of a company’s service delivery, based on a set of principles which underpin a successful service.

These principles include ensuring that advice and guidance delivery are; accessible and visible, professional and knowledgeable, provide efficient connections, adhere to guidelines on diversity and impartiality, that they are responsive, as well as being friendly and welcoming.

In June, Matrix assessor, Caroline Probyn visited the W&P Training Centre head office, in Weymouth, Dorset, interviewing 16 people in total including learners, assessors, partners and staff. The assessor used a range of methods to gather evidence against the Matrix standard including one-one interviews, group interviews, telephone interviews and document reviews.

“The Matrix assessor looked at every aspect of our service delivery and asked pointed questions to a wide range of people who use our Training Services”, says Senior Partner, Wendy Erskine. “The feedback was extremely positive and confirmed our strengths. The Matrix assessor also complimented our effective internal processes in supporting staff and managing their development to ensure they are able to provide information, advice and guidance to our learners. All of the staff interviewed by the assessor confirmed the high level of encouragement they received to undertake learning and development activities. The Matrix assessor reported on the positive feedback received from learners who have been using and benefiting from our services. We are delighted to have achieved this nationally recognised accreditation.”

Achieving the Matrix Standard demonstrates W&P’s commitment to providing the best possible service to enable learners to gain the right qualifications and for them to progress in their employment or further training.’
