Staff at Hyde Nursing Home have raised over £700 for their residents' fund by completing a 12 mile sponsored walk.
Centre manager Helen Hubbert, head of care Jackie Worthington, registered general nurse Pamela Morris and care assistants Natasha Hockaday, Debbie Leigh and Gillian Bancroft, plus friends and family, completed the grueling trek from Whaley Bridge to Hyde on Saturday 28th May.
Over £500 had already been pledged to the team before they had even set off, and so far that amount has increased to an incredible £700+!
Care centre manager, Helen Hubbert commented: "We're not walkers by any stretch of the imagination. Our 'training schedule' has included me taking the stairs instead of the lift, Jackie walking her dog regularly and Pam putting surgical spirits on her feet at night, which is apparently a nurse's secret to preventing blisters!
"The Hyde team is dedicated to its residents and while we have fantastic facilities at the home, such as relaxation therapy, hairdressing and beautiful gardens, we know that our residents would love it if we could provide even more fun and memorable experiences."
The nursing home have a few other fundraising events planned for the summer including a car boot sale and family fun day in July and a quiz and pie supper night in August.
Helen added: "We would love local people to get involved, so if anyone wants to get in touch to offer their support, they are more than welcome."
