Shanti Annapureddy, Deputy Home Manager at Hillside Lodge Care Home in Berwick-upon-Tweed has been crowned Deputy Home Manager of the Year for North East England in the Four Seasons Health Care Awards 2017 and is through to the national finals.
This year over 700 people were nominated for awards by care home residents, colleagues and visitors. All entries have been of a very high standard making the judging process a difficult one. However, a winner had to be chosen and the nomination for Shantidemonstrated how she continues to make a difference and provide special resident experiences on a daily basis.
During the judging process for the Deputy Home Manager of the Year award, the panel was looking at a number of different factors which included the winner demonstrating not only the residents in their home have positive experiences but their care needs are well met, as well as evidencing how they support the Home Manger, leading the care team.
Shanti’s nomination read: “Shanti is the most kind hearted person I know. She is dedicated to her job. I’m being an ex-relative and she was brilliant with my grandad. Her dedication to work is always outstanding; she is fair with us all. She has made our garden outside lovely with donations from everyone. If anyone deserves to be recognized it has to be Shanti.”
As the winner for the North East of England, Shanti is automatically through to the national Four Season’s Care Awards finals. She will meet a panel of judges for the last round of judging and will then join finalists from across the UK in Birmingham for a special event to celebrate their achievements and discover if they have won a national award.
Val Halas, Regional Manager for Newcastle and North Tyneside, said: “Shanti has shown dedication to her role as Deputy Manager but has also been instrumental in creating and developing the external gardens within the home by donating plants and giving her free time to plant, clear and maintain the garden areas for residents and families to enjoy. Well done Shanti!”
Marjorie Condacos, Managing Director for Four Seasons Health Care in North East England, said: “Shanti is a committed valued member of the team at Hillside Lodge; she is a real asset going the extra mile by developing the gardens to benefit the residents and families. Shanti leads the team with passion and professionalism.”
The Care Awards were open to employees from all Four Seasons homes across the UK and central team members to celebrate their commitment in the delivery of high-quality services to all the residents cared for in more than 260 locations.
The 14 categories have been created to recognise excellence in a variety of roles across the organisation ranging from ‘Carer/Support Worker of the Year’ to ‘Personal Activities Lead Champion’. We also wanted to recognise the hard the dedication and commitment from our residents, their relatives and volunteers.
Tim Hammond, CEO of Four Seasons Health Care said: “Our Annual Care Awards are such a special occasion. It is our event where we stop and recognise and celebrate our colleagues who go the extra mile to ensure those living with us have the very best experience.
"The quality of the nominations this year have been outstanding – and I know it has been a difficult process for our Regional Managers and Managing Directors to select our Regional Winners. I congratulate them and look forward to seeing them all at our Annual Care Awards ceremony in February.”
