Hadley Lawns Bupa Care Home in Barnet has been awarded a ‘good’ overall rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following an unannounced inspection.
The home was rated good in all five areas assessed - safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership. Residents and relatives were positive about the service and complimentary about the staff.
When asked about living at the home, one resident commented: "I feel safe and looked after. I've been here a good while." A relative said: "We looked at many care homes. We are thrilled with it. We love it. We know the staff, and we know the manager. I would recommend it, most definitely."
The report praised staff for continuously assessing and reviewing people’s care with the respective person being involved throughout. Inspectors found that people were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible.
Commissioners also found that staff had a good understanding in how they protected people from harm and recognised different types of abuse and how to report it. One relative said: "It's their attitude – very caring. For example, a regular carer who never rushes her, takes her time, gives mum confidence. They have formed quite a relationship."
It was also reported that people were encouraged to participate in a range of activities and pursue hobbies of interest as part of Bupa Care Services’ wider health and wellbeing programme.
General Manager, Evi Beletsioti, said: “We are really pleased with the result of the inspection and it’s great to be recognised for the quality of care we are providing.”
