Residents and staff at Oak Grange care home in Mollington were transported back to the 1960s when the home threw a party to celebrate Sir Cliff Richard’s birthday on October 14.
Born Harry Webb in 1940, Sir Cliff Richard has sold over 250 million records worldwide making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
Staff and residents celebrated his 82nd birthday by holding a 60s-themed party with songs from Sir Cliff’s heyday, 60s inspired party food and dancing from the era.
They showed Sir Cliff’s most famous movies – ‘Summer Holiday’ and ‘The Young Ones’ and reminisced about the 60s.
General Manager, Sarah Butler, said: “Lots of our residents are big Cliff Richard fans and still love his music. We’ve had a fantastic day listening to all his hits, finding out about his life growing up and what influenced him.
"We watched some of his old films which brought back lots of memories for everyone. This afternoon we had a Cliff Richard quiz, it is amazing how many songs he has recorded. We all surprised ourselves by how many we remembered!”
Maureen, a resident said: “I have always loved Cliff Richard, he was the sound of my youth. Listening to all his old hits has brought back so many memories. We’ve all had a brilliant time reminiscing about dancing the night away back in the day!”
