Bookshelves are bulging at Tennyson Wharf care home in Burton Waters where book worm residents were keen to get involved in Book Lovers Day.
Staff and residents at Tennyson Wharf care home decided to celebrate Book Lovers day by inviting in the Lincolnshire Mobile Library Van. Residents loved choosing their books to read and have signed up to ‘books and more to your door’, where they will have books and audio books delivered to their door every month.
Donna Jones the Activities Co-ordinator at the home commented: “Our residents all love to read and to discuss their favourite books so Book Lovers Day is a fantastic opportunity for us all to spend the day with our noses in our favourite books. Some residents also enjoyed listening to some audio books, others residents thought it was absolutely wonderful to be transported back to their childhood, by choosing books from the mobile library van.”
Tennyson Wharf General Manager at the home, said: “It has been a brilliant day and we have all enjoyed swapping our must-reads. Our residents loved choosing books from the mobile library and getting lost in their chosen books. They very much enjoyed reading excerpts from their favourite novels and discussing what they love about them. There are so many wonderful books to discover, everyone enjoyed finding out about new titles to put on their reading lists.”
Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
