One of the best things about living in a residential care home is the like-minded company. As we get older living alone can become isolating, it’s not as easy to get out and socialise, to connect with friends, people who have lived through the same experiences, someone to sink a pint with and to play cards with.
At Kingfisher our residents are surrounded by friends, all a similar age, and all with similar interests, they offer each other a new lease of life. Together they take part in lots of activities, venture out to the local parks, shops, and pubs, visit museums and places of interest, and enjoy each other’s company.
One our most popular activities is our gentleman’s club. The gents get together to watch sport, play dominoes and pool, they drink beer and whiskey and brandy, and chat, the more they drink, the more they chat and the more they chat, the more they laugh. It is wonderful to be a part of it.
