Cheshire Grange Care Home in Lymm journeyed back in time as residents rediscovered fashion from earlier decades all thanks to a Memory box from Marks & Spencer’s Archive.
These Memory Boxes contain original clothing and accessories dating from the 1940s to the 1970s to be used as memory and conversation prompts.
The residents enjoyed reminiscing about the clothing, remembering having worn similar, whilst the Activities Team had great fun modelling some of the items.
Dawn Holsgrove-Smith General Manager of Cheshire Grange Care Home said “We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Cheshire Grange as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this one was particularly enjoyable, listening to the ladies tales of starched collars and pantie girdles made me really appreciate 21st century fashion. ‘
Joan Ashworth a resident at the home reminisced about having made their own clothing, Joan said “It was wonderful seeing fashions that I wore when I was younger, and most of them wouldn’t look out of place today.”
