Taste of India - A Vibrant Celebration of Culture and Unity

On the 20th of September, Alexandra House care home, part of the Runwood Homes group was transformed into a hub of culture and festivity as residents, staff, families, and friends came together to celebrate Taste of India, a joyful event dedicated to embracing and showcasing the richness of Indian culture.

Attendees were immersed in the vibrant spirit of India through an evening filled with traditional costumes, authentic homemade food, dancing, singing, and cultural games. The event brought together staff members from various regions of India, who wore stunning traditional attire and shared their heritage with the residents and their families.

Residents and guests enjoyed a diverse array of Indian dishes, each representing different regions of the country, prepared by staff members themselves. The lively atmosphere was enhanced by traditional Indian music and dance performances, with both staff and residents joining in, creating a strong sense of togetherness.

The celebration served as more than just entertainment—it provided a valuable opportunity for different cultures to unite, allowing everyone at Alexandra House to learn more about one another. The event embodied the spirit of family, inclusion, and mutual respect, demonstrating that, despite diverse backgrounds, everyone is part of one big family.

A family member of a resident expressed, “Amazing does not cover it. It was wonderful. The food was really good, and the traditional costumes were lovely.” While another family member expressed their enthusiasm, saying, “You guys are amazing, love this!”

The Taste of India celebration was a resounding success, filled with laughter, learning, and love, and highlighted the importance of community and the beauty of embracing cultural diversity.
