Gold Care Homes’ Newmarket based care home, Kingfisher House welcomed children and staff from Colourbox Montessori School on Wednesday for a morning of intergenerational activities.
Colourbox Montessori Schools are led by a team of experienced Montessori educators who are committed to nurturing young minds. The Montessori idea promotes hands-on, self-paced, and joyful learning, celebrating each child as both an individual and a valued member of their community.
Residents and children enjoyed a range of playful and creative interactions, with many special moments shared between generations. Following the success of this first visit, Colourbox Montessori School will now be joining Kingfisher House on a monthly basis for a variety of activities. Next month, the groups will come together to enjoy festive Christmas arts and crafts.
Home Manager of Kingfisher House Care Home, Alastair Rayner said “Welcoming the children from Colourbox Montessori School brought such joy to our home. Seeing our residents light up as they played, sang, and created memories with the children was truly special. These moments remind us of the power of connection, and we are so grateful for this wonderful partnership.”
This partnership represents a wonderful example of community collaboration, enriching the lives of both residents and children through shared experiences and intergenerational connection.
