View Full Details of Shaftesbury Rest HomeMy elderly friend (90+) reached a point whereby he could no longer care for himself at home and he decided to move and take up residence in a Rest Home. Not an easy decision to make for many people. The Shaftesbury Rest Home (SO17 1SE) was recommended by local caring agencies and, after a short exploratory stay, he had no doubts about moving in. He settled down very quickly and I was pleased when he told me, on numerous occasions, that "I've made the right decision - both by moving out of my home and by choosing this place". The Shaftesbury Rest Home transformed the quality of his life. Help with daily care. A comfortable bed in a very pleasant single room, with assistance readily available. A clean and tidy place to live. Great and plentiful food and, importantly, good company. The staff and managers are friendly, hard working and professional. The Shaftesbury Rest Home is a very nice place - thoroughly recommended.
My wife has Alzheimer's and has been a resident for one year. Moving a loved one into care is never easy, the manager and staff at Shaftesbury made it as painless as it could be, and after one full year, I can say that I am so glad she is there. She often tells me the staff are lovely (she sometimes thinks she works there) and the food is good. I am always made to feel welcome. I would not want her to be anywhere else!
The care my Mum-in-law receives is excellent from the very professional and attentive staff. The staff are always willing to go the extra mile, including helping her send greetings cards and arrange video calls to our family in Australia. Although she is a fussy eater, she enjoys her food at the home very much. The staff make sure that her medication and the other requirements of her GP, and other medical specialists, are complied with completely - which is such a comfort for us compared to when she was living alone, as is the company of the other residents and staff.
Since my daughter and I settled Grandmother into Shaftesbury Rest Home, she has been lovingly cared for and cherished. The care she received prior to her recent death at the grand age of (almost) 99 has been exemplary. Nothing has been too much trouble, and every member of staff under the matron was well trained. The food was home-cooked and very well received by the residents. This is a small imitate rest home, and we have no reason not to highly recommend it to others. I personally have had family members in extremely expensive, high-end care homes, and they could not compete with Shaftesbury Rest Home for care, kindness and compassion. Both Grandmother and the staff of Shaftesbury Rest Home will be missed.
