However, care in a residential home offers value for money when considering full board and 24/7 care at a level that must meet significant regulatory requirements specified by Care Quality Commission (CQC). <br>Fee increases over the last few years can be attributed to factors such as Government-implemented wage increases of between 6% and 10% per annum for the previous four years. <br>Although Governments over the last 15 years have attempted to create a means of fairly funding care for older people, with only 7% of the over 85 years elderly population requiring some form of residential care, it has never been a Government priority, and the burden falls on a small number of families to support the increasing fees.
