Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We’re very sorry for your loss. We jointly decided to put him in the dementia unit as this has the highest staff-resident ratio and it was thought his needs warranted this level of care, and additionally it had availability of a large room which we agreed would be a good option. Upon investigation, we found one incidence of a fellow resident, on a short respite stay and confused with dementia, who had accidentally wandered into his room and urinated. This was addressed immediately with a carer staying with your husband overnight to help him feel settled, and then he was moved to a different unit the following morning. The police did attend, but were satisfied he was being well looked-after and correct procedures had been followed. Your husband was well-liked by staff at Town Thorns who did everything they could to support him through his illness. The care home manager would be happy to meet with you to discuss further.
