We’re deeply sorry for your brother’s experience while in our care and we take all these concerns incredibly seriously. We have taken actions where required to address our processes where we feel lessons can be learned.
As discussed during the investigation process and outcome, promoting independence is one of our core values in the work that we do, and while we discourage harmful behaviour, we also cannot restrict people’s right to make harmful decisions when they have capacity; including drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes or refusing personal care or hygiene support.
Your brother received care from a diverse multi disciplinary team during his time with us and we repeatedly sought professional advice throughout his stay to support him. We have completed and shared with you a detailed investigation as you know but would like to invite you once again to discuss any concerns you may still have so that we can address them directly.
