Dear Sandra, we are sorry to hear that you were unsure about aspects of your uncle's care when he first arrived at the home for his three-week respite stay. As you may know, I completed a full assessment before his admission, where I gathered as much information as possible about all aspects of his health and life, including his food preferences. You had told us that he liked a particular type of breakfast cereal, whereas the resident himself said he preferred another, which we gave him as and when he chose. At mealtimes, he needed help and encouragement, so staff used to sit with him while he ate. He seemed to settle in quickly and the hospice was very pleased with his improvement. Shortly afterwards he moved out of the home to be near the family. We really enjoyed looking after your uncle and would have been more than happy for him to stay with us for longer.
