We were so sorry to read how you feel around the care of your aunt at the end of her life. We are reaching out to you personally to discuss this, however, we would like to address what you have written as we do feel that our end of life care is not as described. Your aunt was seen by her GP, the frailty team, nurse and had an end of life care plan in place as well as anticipatory medication, if needed. As a family you were kept updated regularly and visited regularly, indeed family were with her until late in the evening just before she passed away. No treatment was withdrawn, food and fluid and care were offered and given regularly up until the end. You visited your aunt after receiving the call and personally thanked and hugged staff for their care and support. We feel we did appropriately care for your aunt at the end of her life, as her wishes depicted, she died peacefully in her home, with family visiting and staff supporting her throughout, with her pain controlled.
