Thank you for raising this concern and for agreeing to discuss this with me. As I explained on our phone call, we have investigated this and spoken to the chef. The chef confirmed that there was a loaf of bread in the cupboard which had gone mouldy. He said he took slices from a 2nd loaf which did not appear to be mouldy and gave them to you. When I informed him you had gone to get more bread and found both loaves were mouldy he accepted he should have checked the whole loaf and if mouldy thrown both away. He told me he returned the first loaf to the cupboard as he did not want to cause alarm. We pride ourselves on having achieved a 5 Star Food Hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency for the last 5 years and can only apologise for any distress caused by this incident.
