Sadly, the reviewer did not inform us of her partner's habit of eating objects (tissues, plastic) during meals, a major choking risk. The reviewer claimed the resident wore pads and complied with care despite urinary incontinence, which proved untrue. The resident also had a habit of removing pants and urinating in public areas. As a residential, not nursing, care home, we couldn't meet the resident's needs and informed the reviewer immediately. The reviewer admitted knowing of these behaviours. Had we known, we would not have accepted the resident. Despite this, the reviewer left them in our care. The resident's glasses were found under their bed. Items 'lost' were not labelled as agreed. The resident also took his things to others' rooms. We regret the failure of respite care, but it was due to the reviewer's lack of candour and unrealistic expectations of our capabilities. Despite this, we kept the resident safe and comfortable. We wish them all the best in their new nursing home.
