Dad was placed at our care home by social services after a visit to the hospital; it clearly stated on his clinical notes that Dad had Dementia and should not be near open staircases which we are bound to recognise. This was, therefore, a deciding factor to where his room was situated within the home. We usually suggest a settling in period of 6 weeks for any resident. It was decided at a very early stage that the home was not the most suitable place to meet Dad's needs or that of the family. Work commenced to find a home that was available and met the families needs. We worked hard with all parties to try and expedite this process but the final decision rests outside our control. We felt the family was actively involved and aware during this process and we continued to provide the high level of care we are known for, in addition to the family requests. Despite this review we felt Dad and the majority of his relatives were happy and he was safe at all times during his stay with us.
