The care home employs two activities coordinators, on a part time basis.
A range of activities are offered to the Residents, and these include, community involvement. The Residents living within the care home are canvassed for their opinion and areas of special interest and this is the information used to develop the activity program
Many of the Residents enjoy trips to the local cinema, leisure centre, bowling alley, theatres and day trips to local beauty spots.
On a daily basis the Residents are supported to visit the local shops and there is a walking group that Residents enjoy. Some Residents are supported to maintain their religious practice and attend their Church on a daily or weekly basis.
The care home welcomes community groups and these groups support in the activity program across the year. The Care Home has links with local schools, and youth organisations.
Although the care home aims to maintain and improve people’s independence, the Residents living within the care home, have limited potential for rehabilitation that would lead to independent or supported living in the local community and therefore require 24 hour nursing care.
