Yes - Laundry is one of our frustrating challenges as you have pointed out - however, we are trying new ideas to improve this important service and we have just invested in different labelling equipment to help improve on this issue! Paperwork - can take time which might otherwise be spent with Residents, however, our numerous regulators require that we can evidence the care and events that make up a Resident's day. The power cut - the second in my tenure as manager, though thoroughly inconvenient, gave us a useful 'practice' opportunity. The emergency generator was commissioned within 15 minutes of lights-out, and ancillary staff from throughout the Village were available to provide extra support to the Care Home within minutes. Many of the Residents found the event reminiscent of wartime 'black out' and some told stories or joined in singing old favourite songs.
