We agree that the staff have 'seemed' overstretched and have identified the inefficiencies and lack of leadership 'on the floor' that led to this feeling. I'm sure you would agree that in the last few weeks with our new Care Team Leader role, these issues have been ironed out, this is borne out with far less usage of the call bell, as carers now are preemptive rather than reactive due to improved leadership. Our electronic care planning app has also freed up around 6 hours of care time per day which can be channelled into additional social care time. This is, as you mention, in addition to our 'pastoral carer' time which is 4 - 5 hours a day, this being ring-fenced social care time. We do not continue this through weekends as traditionally we got a very limited uptake of activities on weekends as families would be visiting and/or residents were taken out. That said, we always welcome volunteers and support from families is always appreciated. Should you wish to volunteer please speak to the office and we can go through the relevant paperwork.
