We are sorry that the person that wrote this review feels this way about the care his mother received. We do provide care to people with dementia but sometimes the needs of a person with any type of dementia can alter quickly and without warning. We do involve other professionals when this happens as was the case here. We have to consider whether or not we can meet the specialist needs that can arise from some advanced dementias. We do our best to do so but where behaviours require specialist care we recognise that these needs can be better provided for in a more specialist unit that caters mainly for people with similar conditions as we also have to consider the impact that one person’s specific behaviour can have on other residents as we have a duty of care to all in our home. We do recognise that any decision such as this is always a difficult and emotive one for all parties but we do feel that we did all we could to facilitate the resident whist she was in our care in all areas including treating her with dignity, inviting her to join in the daily activities and we personally feel that our facilities and management are in good order as can be evidenced by others written comments.
