We are always keen to develop and will certainly consider your suggestions, particularly where it may improve our service. We are required to ensure 2 registered nurses are always present, but we aim to provide 3 nurses where possible during the day, as we realise that more nursing staff can always make a difference. Our nurses are trained to monitor and check syringe driver devices, but in Inverclyde they can only be put in place by the GP and district nurses. We maintain a constant dialogue with GPs as part of our palliative care to ensure they are fully briefed and can respond promptly when required.
