Thank you for your review and likelihood to recommend the home. Activities at Woodpeckers are always planned in advanced and advertised around the home so that our residents know what to look forward to over the month ahead, however, the Companionship Team will always adapt the program to meet the needs of the residents who attend on the day as best they can. This sometime means that activities may be changed or moved to a different time and if this has led to any disappointment for your mother then we absolutely apologise for this.
In the 4 weeks that your mother stayed with us at Woodpeckers, we found her to be a very social person who could often be found visiting residents in their rooms’ and making conversation with them. As well as socialising with those in the home, your mother was also regularly visited by her family and friends. This sometimes meant that your mother was unable to attend the scheduled activities, however, around these times she attended activities and minibus trips on most days and met one-to-one with members of the Companionship Team so that they could get to know her better.
In response to your feedback, we have reviewed the past 3 months ‘What’s On’ planners and identified a lack of activities that focus on mental stimulation. We accept that to cater for all residents it is important to provide a varied and balanced activity planner than currently on offer. One that delivers elements of mental stimulation, physical activity and social engagement equally, so that residents receive a rounded program that improves their overall wellbeing.
If your mother were to join us at Woodpeckers again, as we hope that she will, she can feel confident that we have taken all the above into consideration so that her experience of the Companionship program will be a better one. We will be acting on these reflections to improve the experiences of the other residents currently living at Woodpeckers and are grateful for the comments made and the opportunity it provides us to improve.
