It is incredibly hard to hear of the distress that Care South’s end-of-life visiting policy have caused this family. The policy complies with Government guidance. The family have publicly disagreed with the visiting policy across many media channels, whilst at the same time also publicly acknowledging the good care that Fairlawn’s carer’s provided for their mother. The policy is one that has been devised with our primary responsibility to safeguard the interests of all of our residents and dedicated teams of carers in our care homes throughout this pandemic.
We do encourage end of life visits. Two of the family members were able to spend a full day with their mother on the Sunday before she passed away peacefully surrounded by dedicated carers who were very fond of her and who had her very best interests at heart at all times. We very much regret that we were unable to meet this family’s expectations and are truly sorry for the heartache that this has caused.
