Oakfield has at all times followed government guidance and advice, while taking into account the particular circumstances within the home, to ensure the safety of all patients and staff.
The issue of patient visiting has been of concern to all care homes, and Oakfield is not in isolation. The problem remains the high risk of infection passing from a visitor to the patient, who then infects other patients and staff resulting in death from Covid. Covid is highly infectious and has not gone away.
We will continue to act within Government guidance, but also with due regard to our nursing experience and responsibilities, to safeguard all patients.
Regular updates have been sent to all next of kin with regards to visiting, and we are more than happy to discuss any concerns regarding these.
