About the role
Reporting to Care managers and Senior carers, the Carer will follow established reporting lines within the care home. This includes providing regular updates on resident care, escalating concerns as necessary, and adhering to all organisational policies and procedures.
Success in this role is achieved through your dedication to providing exceptional care and your commitment to continuous learning and improvement. This includes actively participating in training opportunities, seeking feedback from supervisors, and striving to enhance your skills in providing person-centred care.
The Carer is at the heart of our care delivery model. Your role is essential in providing personalised care, fostering a sense of community, and ensuring the dignity and respect of each resident.
Duties
· To demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of service user’s total needs by assisting in the Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation of their care.
· To communicate clearly and sensitively, respecting the privacy and dignity of each service user.
· To help in the promotion of the Physical and Mental health of service users through planning and organising the recreational and social activities such as reading, writing, hobbies, social outings for individuals or groups and utilise the families of the local communities
· To provide emotional, physical support and social support to service users and monitor general health
· To assist with the development and implementation of person-centred care
· To assist with personal care to service users who need help, including getting up in the morning, dressing and undressing, washing, bathing, shaving, eating, drinking, feeding where appropriate, elimination, hygiene, mobilising, sleep/rest and taking medication.
· To assist and support service users in the cleaning and tidying of the home, i.e., change beds, tidy rooms.
· To assist and support service users in the purchase, maintenance and laundering of their personal clothing and linen where appropriate.
Skills, experience and education
· Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
· Team player
· Willingness to participate in the Educational Training Programme.
· Minimum QCF Level 2 in Care or the Care Certificate
· Training in Safe Handling of medicines
· Legislation relating to the provision of care
· Commitment to the Home aims and objectives, and vision
Other Responsibilities Include:
· To answer emergency bells, doorbells and telephone with courtesy, politeness and convey messages appropriately
· To set the table, trays, serve meals, prepare light meals and washing up.
· Administration and supervision of medication in line with the current policies, protocol and guidelines as required
· To maintain a high standard of recording and report writing as required, having strict regard to issues of confidentiality.
· To ensure the highest standard of professional practice in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines
All Successful Candidates will be subject to DBS Checks.
