Senior Mental Health Care Assistant – Lead with Compassion!
Are you an experienced care professional with a passion for
supporting individuals with mental health conditions? Our
privately-owned care home provides 24-hour specialist nursing care for
adults with complex physical and mental health needs. As a Senior
Mental Health Care Assistant, you’ll take on a leadership role within
the care team, ensuring residents receive the highest standard of care
while providing guidance and support to your colleagues.
What You’ll Do
- Lead by Example: Support and mentor Care Assistants, ensuring best practices in delivering mental health care.
- Specialist Support: Provide compassionate, tailored care to residents with mental health conditions, promoting emotional well-being and security.
- Empower Independence: Assist residents with daily routines, encouraging positive choices and fostering independence.
- Personalized Care: Oversee and implement individual care plans, ensuring residents receive thoughtful, hands-on support tailored to their needs.
- Mental Health Awareness: Monitor residents’ well-being, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to the Nurse or Clinical Deputy Manager.
- Champion Dignity & Respect: Foster a supportive, inclusive environment, ensuring every resident is treated with compassion and dignity.
- Social Engagement: Encourage residents to participate in meaningful activities, promoting interaction and mental stimulation.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for residents, responding promptly to any emergencies.
- Nutritional & Medication Support: Assist residents with meals and hydration, and support with medication administration as required.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery.
About You
- Experience: Minimum 12 months experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, preferably in a senior role.
- Leadership: Ability to supervise, mentor, and support junior care staff.
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
- Skills: Strong communication, patience, and ability to build trusting relationships with residents and colleagues.
- Commitment: A deep passion for enhancing the quality of life for those with mental health needs.
- Team Player: A collaborative approach to care, ensuring the best possible outcomes for residents.
