“Minffordd” Psychiatric Rehabilitation Care Home is now called ‘Cae Glas’ after a competition was held at the home.

Minffordd Psychiatric Rehabilitation Care Home in Denbigh has decided to make a new start as "Cae Glas". The team decided to change the name to reflect the new direction in services they are taking and the community they work within.

The name Cae Glas was chosen through a competition, wherein the service users and staff were encouraged to suggest names for the home. The name Cae Glas, meaning "Green Fields" in Welsh language, was suggested by Avril, one of our service users, and was selected through voting. Avril is proud of her achievement and really excited about winning the prize.

Cae Glas is now focusing on rehabilitation using the Recovery Model. The Recovery Model, as it applies to mental health, is an approach to mental disorder that emphasizes and supports each individual's potential for recovery. Recovery is seen within the model as a personal journey, that may involve developing hope, a secure base and sense of self, supportive relationships, empowerment, social inclusion, coping skills, and meaning. The home is also being refurbished extensively and the service users and staff are looking forward to the changes and improvements.
