Residents at Bridgewater Park, residential, nursing and dementia care home, in Scunthorpe, have been very busy lately, lets see that they have been doing.

On the 29th of April, Residents at Bridgewater Park, celebrated Ramadan. Residents Val, Doreen, Roy, Beryl, Terry, Joyce, Richard, and John got together in the lounge to sample various Indian foods which included samosas, pan rolls, onion bhaji’s, poppadom’s and lots of other treats.

There were lots of refreshments on offer too and the food was also taken around to Residents who were in their rooms.

It was great for the Residents to try lots of new foods. One Resident commented, “The food was very spicy!”

On the same day, love was in the air for husband-and-wife Residents, Terry, and Beryl. They were sat in the lounge holding hands and doing jigsaws together. The whole time they didn’t let go of each other’s hands.

Beryl and Terry have been married nearly 73-years and are still very much in love with each other. Joyce and Doreen, both joined Terry and Beryl and they chatted about how they met, their children and grandchildren.

Joyce and Doreen both said, “It is lovely to see Beryl and Terry sat with each other in the lounge.”

On the 4th May, Residents Doreen, Joyce, Mervyn, Val, Roy, Joy, Rodger, Kathleen, John, Beryl and Terry and Residents in their rooms celebrated VE Day.

The windows were decorated with Union Jack flags, and the tables were decorated with Union Jack plates, cups and table clothes.

Lots of scones and cups of tea were available for all the Residents to enjoy whilst listening to music in the background. The Residents sat around the tables and took it in turns to comment about previous VE Days which they have had whilst growing up. The Residents really enjoyed it!

Melanie Walton, Care Home Manager, commented, “The Residents have had lots of fun over the past few weeks! It is great seeing them get together and have a great time.”
