Staff from care homes in North London took part in a fire walk and raised nearly £500 for charity.
Team members from Candlewood House and Carlton Court, part of the TLC Care Group, took part in the fire walk charity challenge to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice in Harrow and Brent.
They raised £470 for the hospice to help them care for people whose illnesses are no longer curable, enabling them to achieve the best possible quality of life during the final stages of their illness.
In addition to raising money, the fire walk proved to be a bonding experience for the team as they supported each other and conquered their fear together.
George Bacon, business development manager at Carlton Court was one of the seven members of staff to brave the walk.
He said: “This was truly a fantastic experience, not something I would have thought I would ever do but as soon as I hear team members were taking part in this challenge, I wanted to join! I feel so proud to have taken part and raise the money we have for a wonderful cause.”
Subin Puthan Veettil, manager at Candlewood House Care Home added: “I had heard about a fire walk previously and I was always intrigued as to what it would be like so I thought I would finally find out! It felt so magical to take part in the challenge with colleagues and I am overwhelmed by the generous support of those who have donated to our fundraising page, thank you everyone!”
