Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the sale of Town Thorns Care Home in Easenhall, Rugby.

Town Thorns Care Home is a recently refurbished state-of-the-art care home that offers residential, dementia, nursing and respite care to up to 62 residents. The centre sits on a 25-acre site and comprises a detached, part-three and part-four storey purpose-built property with 62 en suite bedrooms (all wet rooms), 29 independent living flats for people over 55 years (average size circa 45 sqm), and 12 bedsits (average size 20 sqm) on the upper floors.

Town Thorns is situated in a peaceful rural location between Coventry and Rugby in the village of Easenhall, Warwickshire. This serene setting allows residents to enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding area and a home-away-from-home experience whilst being conveniently situated near a wide range of amenities in the locality.

The site itself has quite a history. The main mansion house was built between 1871 and 1873 by Alfred Waterhouse. It was sold in the 1930s and set up as a place for evacuated children to live during the war. After the war, it became a children’s home and school. In 1954, it was known as the Town Thorns Residential School for SEN Children for the Coventry Corporation and, in 1988, it was bought and redeveloped into the care facility it is known for today.

Following a confidential sales process with Paul Reilly at Christie & Co, the home has been purchased by expanding regional operator, Capital Care Group, which now has nine care and nursing homes in the Midlands.

Paul Reilly, Director – Care at Christie & Co, comments, “Following a confidential process which attracted several buyers from across the UK, resulting in a very competitive bidding process and a successful sale to Capital Care Group. This shows how strong the market is and, in particular, the demand for quality assets across the Midlands.”

Town Thorns Care Home was sold for an undisclosed price.
