Residents at HC-One’s Kings Court Care Home in Newark, Nottinghamshire, were delighted to welcome a host of animal visitors, thanks to a special animal therapy session hosted by Sally Kelsey from Animal Interactions.

The visit brought smiles all around as residents met and interacted with a wonderful selection of animals, including reptiles, guinea pigs, tortoises, and rabbits. The session was filled with laughter and affection as residents stroked, held, and learned about each of the animals.

Many residents reminisced about their childhoods during the visit, sharing fond memories of pets they once had, or wished they could have. Several residents mentioned they had always wanted a bunny growing up, making the experience particularly special.

Animal therapy sessions like this one are known to provide a wide range of benefits for older adults, especially those living in care settings. Interaction with animals can help reduce stress, ease feelings of loneliness, and encourage communication and social interaction. It can also promote sensory stimulation and enhance mood, all of which contribute to residents’ overall wellbeing.

The Kings Court team expressed their sincere thanks to Sally from Animal Interactions for bringing such a lovely experience to the home and for her gentle, caring approach during the session.

Kings Court is just one of over 280 kind and cosy HC-One care homes across the UK. For those considering a move, HC-One is currently offering four weeks for the price of three to new residents who join before 30th November 2025.
