International Nurses Day
12 May
In January 1974, the 12th May was chosen to celebrate Nurses day as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. In 2021, International Nurses' Day will seek to highlight the ways nurses are innovating and will also explore what nursing may look like in the future.
You may have retired nurses living in your services, this is a day to celebrate all the hard work they have given over the years and to thank them for their dedication to nursing.
Additionally, you may want to enable the residents to show their gratitude to the nurses who have supported them over the past year. Perhaps by writing cards or giving certificates within your home to the nurses to say thank you.
We are going to be learning about Florence Nightingale and her work and have some fun quizzes about our bodies. We are going to celebrate some of our residents who are Nurses alongside celebrating our own dedicated nursing staff with prizes for our nurses voted in by our residents and a video to say thank you to all nurses out there who care for us all in our lifetimes.
