View Full Details of Grassington HouseFrom the very beginning up until the carehome suffered a devastating fire in January, the staff have gone above and beyond to make my nan feel welcome, safe, and valued. The level of compassion, patience, and genuine kindness shown by every member of the team was exceptional. It's clear that the staff take the time to get to know each and every resident. It is like home from home. My nan was always treated with dignity and respect. The communication with our family was also excellent, we were always updated and always felt involved and reassured. The home itself was always warm, clean and inviting. Meals were always nutrituous and tailored to individual needs. I would highly recommend Grassington House Carehome to anyone that is looking for a compassionate, caring and nurturing environment for their loved ones.
My aunt was a resident of Grassington house before the unfortunate fire happened, my aunt was always very happy at Grassington house where she was cared for unconditionally. The staff and management go above and beyond for their residents. Always kind, compassionate and caring. My aunt would love to return back to Grassington house when they reopen, as she describes this as her home and family. Always welcoming to family members and always have listened to any concerns of mine when it comes to the best care for my auntie.
A very caring residential home that provided great comfort to my fiercely independent aunt when she was no longer able to live by herself. The staff and owners took great pains to make her feel settled and secure and were very welcoming to me as a visitor. It really felt like a home and not an institution. I particularly appreciated the efforts made for her 100th birthday celebrations.
A lovely friendly home. My Gran had a wonderful time here going out on the minibus, regularly. My Gran always used to say it was home from home and that always made me smile, the staff were always welcoming and friendly and wonderful to my Gran.
Although mum is not currently at Grassington House due to the fire earlier in the year, I wanted to write a review giving my experience of the aftercare mum has received from the staff there. When the fire broke out, the residents and staff were evacuated very quickly to the neighbouring property. Thankfully nobody had been injured or hurt. The manager rang me to inform me of the incident, and I went to collect mum who then lived with me for a week before being accommodated elsewhere. The manager kept in touch with daily updates, the staff managed to salvage the majority of mums clothing and possessions, and arranged for mum to be transferred to a local care home. The manager and staff visited mum soon after this to ensure she was safe and well and enjoying her new home. All the relevant care plans, finances and medication records have been transferred quickly. When Grassington House reopens, mum is planning to return there, as she liked the familiarity a smaller home gives.
If you are fortunate enough to stay here you have struck gold. My mother-in-law lived here since December 2019 and told us regularly how she loved it and the staff. Nothing was any trouble. Food was delicious and nutritious. It is a 'home' in every sense. The stress melted away from us as we knew she was not only really looked after but loved by all the staff. They were amazing all the way through to her final days and supported us throughout. We cannot thank them enough.
Our family are genuinely pleased with the home, particularly as it provides a homely environment with staff who are not just carers but are truly caring and empathetic, even in difficult circumstances. We live some distance from our loved one, and have to rely on regular updates from the caring staff, who are always willing to give us their insightful and honest feedback as to how things are going, so that we can either feel confident that all is well or if things need to tweaked to improve. We always feel our comments are listened to and there is genuine respect for our loved one and our views.
A wonderful care home owned by a young couple, employing magnificent staff (carers). The food is excellent and there is a lovely garden to sit out in. I have been here for almost two and a half years and it has been a very happy and fulfilling time.
I came into Grassington House one year ago, originally for five weeks. It soon became home to me and I feel happy and content. Staff are my second family, my first being my son's grandchildren and great grandchildren.
My mother was a long-term resident at Grassington until she required more medical care. The home is a credit to the owners and the marvellous staff who provide the warmest and most caring service. Grassington has a real home-from-home atmosphere and my mother was always kept stimulated and entertained when she needed it. Being a former keen gardener she loved to help when she was able in the lovely garden at the rear of the home. Friendships were made and until her dementia worsened she enjoyed the many outings and get-togethers in the conservatory. Thank you, Grassington for making one of life’s most difficult transitions that much easier.
A very caring lot of people. I like meeting the other people. I like the activities but know I don't have to do them if I don't want to. The food is very good.
My nan absolutely loved it at Grassington House. The staff took the time to get to know her so well, she always looked well presented and cared for when we visited and so happy! When we visited we were greeted like family at the door and always offered drinks throughout our visit. There were always activities on offer and Nan always told me about the lovely chats she had with the staff and other residents too. Thank you Grassington Team, I will be forever grateful for how loved you made my nan feel, a real family home.
A true home-from-home, the personal touch and care for residents is present in everything they do. Plenty of activities for those who enjoy socialising, the staff are a dedicated team who offer the best for their residents, and the offer of cups of tea for visitors is always there. So pleased we were able to get Dad settled into Grassington, he has plenty of opportunity to let his quirky sense of humour out. Highest praise for everyone at Grassington. Thank you all.
Could not fault Grassington House in any way. When Nan came in for respite she was very anxious and nervous and they made her feel as though she was part of the family. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them and made sure to get a good background on Nan's life to be able to accommodate all of her needs and make her feel as though they had made an effort to find out about her to settle her. Nan found all of this very reassuring and when it came to taking her home she wanted to come back to Grassington House. Nan was very well looked after and seemed like a new woman when she came home from her stay at Grassington. This is definitely somewhere Nan will be visiting on a weekly basis especially now that she can do day visits to Grassington House. Would very much recommend!
A very clean and welcoming residence. All staff very friendly and caring towards the residents. They always have time to explain matters concerning family members either face to face or via e-mail or telephone. Nothing seems too much trouble. It always seems the health and welfare of the residents are a priority and they really go out of their way to make residents feel they are in a family environment.
We cannot fault the care received by Mum in any way. When she first arrived, we were anxious because it was such a big step for her after living in the same house for 38 years. The staff welcomed her in, she quickly settled and her health, energy, interest in life and overall well-being steadily improved. The best feature is the feeling of being part of a community because the home is relatively small and her door is always open onto the landing. So something is always happening, residents or staff popping by and plenty of social contact and stimulation. We have experienced much larger homes with other family members, mostly isolated down long corridors with their doors shut off from the world. Also, most of the staff at Grassington House are long-standing and form great social relationships with each resident. And the home is very convenient to take Mum into Dorchester town centre for a coffee or just a short trip out on sunny days. There is also a close relationship with the local GP. Highly recommended!
Our father has been a resident of Grassington House for nearly 3 years. With the help of the manager and her wonderful team he quickly settled into the family; enjoying events in-house, day trips out and most of all the delicious home-cooked meals! Sadly his needs have now changed and we cannot thank the manager and her team enough for the loving and compassionate care he is receiving. Thank you all so much.
From day one, Mum has felt happy and comfortable at Grassington. Her needs are met extremely well - she has been encouraged to be as independent as possible within a very caring and supportive safety net. The carers are brilliant, forming close and caring relationships with all the residents and treating them all as the individuals they are. They are encouraged (but never coerced) to join in with the many activities and facilities offered to them, but are also given excellent service in their own rooms if that is their preference. Visitors are always made extremely welcome and because of the small number of residents, it feels like a home from home for Mum.
The home is welcoming and there has always been a happy atmosphere in which residents seem well stimulated and are cared for carefully and on an individual basis. Staff are unfailingly not only courteous but warm and welcoming.
We are very pleased with the care and attention my stepmother is receiving at Grassington House. The atmosphere there and friendliness of the staff is simply the best. Knowing she is happy and content and well looked after, gives the whole family peace of mind. Thank you all so much.
