Music Therapist based at MHA Brookfield & MHA The Homestead, Oxford
Permanent - Part Time - 15 hours per week
Salary - £42,265.00 per annum (pro rata for part time)
About the role
MHA is the largest care charity in the UK: and a leading provider music therapy in dementia care across the UK. We are proud of our Music Therapy service and how music plays an important part in all our lives.
Music is a key part of our holistic approach to care and support at MHA, enabling people to live later life well. The MHA Music Therapy Service was established in 2008 and currently employs a large team of registered music therapists who work nationwide in MHA care homes providing specialist dementia care.
Our music therapy service was featured in the BBC TV programme Our Dementia Choir and was consulted on for the delicate storyline of dementia on the ITV programme Emmerdale.
Our music therapy service aims to enhance quality of life and supports personalised care in care homes., We continue to take part in research for the benefit of the people we support, contributing to the growing evidence base of the efficacy of music therapy for people in older age, with ongoing collaboration with the universities in the UK and EU.
About you
As a qualified Music Therapist, registered with the Health Care Professions Council. You will be responsible for providing both individual and group music therapy to the people we support in our specialist dementia services The ability to work flexibly as part of the multidisciplinary team in care homes is essential.
Strong empathic communication and presentation skills are a requisite to be successful in your role. You will be interacting directly with the people we support through live interactive music therapy sessions. You will also work with care colleagues, sharing insight and knowledge, through assessment and advice, creating positive ways of supporting identified and emerging needs and improving overall quality of life.
We work collaboratively with care colleagues to develop support plans to assist in the provision of daily person-centred care.
Ideally you will have experience of working in a care/nursing home setting in any capacity.
