About the role

As our Gardener/Maintenance Assistant for our residents that live with dementia you will maintain our lovely garden area. You will also care for, manage and develop our garden areas and order gardening supplies when needed. You'll be responsible for assisting our Senior Maintenance person with all repairs and maintenance across our home. You’ll walk the home daily to pro-actively identify any areas that need attention, whilst also conducting regular safety checks on various equipment.  You’ll create a maintenance programme for the home alongside our Home Manager and of course you’ll interact with our residents on a daily basis - so you’ll be friendly, caring and kind whilst respecting our residents’ dignity at all times. 

Here’s some other important things you need to know:

  • Know how to develop garden areas, including digging, forking, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, and planting
  • Know how to work collaboratively with colleagues as part of a professional team
  • Knowledge of how to use hand gardening tools
  • Experience in a similar maintenance roles including painting and decorating. Plumbing and electrical experience would be beneficial. 
  • You will keep up to date and accurate records of all checks and repairs completed and scheduled
