About the role

As a Dementia Champion, you will consistently demonstrate the skills, knowledge, and compassion required to lead high-quality care. You will take an active role in creating the right atmosphere, culture, and person-centred activities. You will also be required to participate in completing person-centred care plans, ensuring they reflect the unique needs and preferences of each resident living with dementia. Your commitment to promoting dignity, independence, and a supportive environment is truly valued within the home.

Reports to: Home Manager/Deputy Manager/Nurse

Skills and attributes
  • Previous experience supporting individuals living with dementia.
  • A strong understanding of person-centred dementia care.
  • Confidence in guiding and mentoring colleagues in dementia care practices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
  • An empathetic and caring nature.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Education and qualification

• You will have, or be working towards, NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
