Are you a compassionate, experienced leader in social care looking for a rewarding next step? Schoen Clinic York is looking for a dedicated Deputy Manager to support the day-to-day operations of our specialist dementia and discharge to assess wards.

This is a hands-on leadership role—perfect for someone with experience as a Senior Carer, Deputy Manager, or Manager in a social care setting. You don’t need to be clinically registered—but you do need passion, leadership, and a deep understanding of dementia care.

About the Role

As Deputy Manager, you’ll work closely with the General Manager to ensure our residents receive the highest standards of person-centred care. You’ll help lead a committed team, uphold compliance and quality standards, and be a key point of contact for families and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities: (although not limited to)

·  Support evidence-based dementia care that respects each resident’s individuality

·  Help maintain compliance with CQC regulations and internal policies

·  Oversee audits, care plans, medication management, and safeguarding processes alongside the clinical lead and general manager.

·  Supervise and mentor care teams, promoting a culture of dignity and inclusion

·  Support recruitment, rotas, training, and day-to-day team coordination

·  Lead by example and foster professional development across the wards.

·  Build trusting relationships with residents and their families, playing an active role in care planning and review meetings.

·  Deputise for the General Manager’s role when required working closely with the Clinical Lead

·  Assist with budgeting, stock control, and supplier relations

·  Maintain a safe, welcoming environment and support community engagement

·  Participate in the on-call rota

Skills / Qualifications:

  • experience in care
  • previous work as a senior carer or deputy manager
