Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
The care home has been more than adequate since my father arrived there, the staff to resident ratio helps my father a lot - he needs more interaction than he was receiving at his previous care home. His room is lovely, but I wonder if the interaction & activities (witnessed a couple ) he received initially
has declined due to staff issues more recently? I do realise staffing is always a problem. The staff during the week are lovely, I feel like they know him and his ways. It seems very different on a weekend - so much quieter and some staff not always looking like they are even working there let alone interacting with the residents!
It was obviously brand new so the outside space wasn't ready for the residents for 2 months (the hot summer ones) so I really hope the residents will now be taken down to get some fresh air and possibly planting and helping in the garden etc, my dad for one would hopefully like this whilst the weather is warm. Lovely friendly reception.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're pleased to hear that your father has settled in well and that our team know him and his ways; those personal connections really do make a difference. We're grateful for your comments on activities and interaction. Staffing can be a challenge, but please be assured we are actively recruiting, including for a dedicated Activities Coordinator role, to ensure residents benefit from engaging and meaningful experiences every day. Now that our gardens are open, we are excited to offer more opportunities for residents to enjoy fresh air, gardening and time outdoors, especially while the weather is warm. Your observations about weekends are valuable, and we are always focused on ensuring consistency across the whole week. Thank you once again for taking the time to leave your review - your feedback helps us to keep improving our service.

My mum has been here for 6 days now. I feel the staff make mum feel special and cared for. Great empathy and nothing too much trouble. I visit mum nearly every day, otherwise I arrange for a carer to visit. Each time I have witnessed lovely and knowledgeable staff. Good facilities and mum likes the
food.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.154)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.154) out of 10 for Wellen Court, Schoen Clinic York is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.696 for Wellen Court, Schoen Clinic York is calculated as follows: ( (17 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 23 Ratings = 4.696
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.458 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wellen Court, Schoen Clinic York is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.333
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
